First: USPS Mail Forwarding
File online with USPS a week or two before you move, with a start date of moving day. Forwarding lasts about a year — long enough to catch the senders you miss.
Government and Legal
Driver's license and vehicle registration (state deadlines are often 10–30 days), voter registration, the IRS if you move between filings, and Social Security or benefits if you receive them.
Financial
Banks, credit cards, loan and mortgage servicers, investment and retirement accounts, and insurance — auto, home or renters, health, life. Insurance especially, since rates and coverage are address-based.
Utilities, Work, and Everything Else
Schedule utility stop/start dates. Update your employer and payroll. Then the long tail: pharmacy, doctor and dentist, vet, schools, streaming and subscription boxes, Amazon, and any store loyalty account with your address on file.
Book your tote delivery and pickup dates early so the logistics are locked while you work the list.
