A home office is one of the last rooms you can fully pack, because you're probably still using it. The trick is packing everything except the working setup early, then breaking down the desk last.
Photograph Every Cable Setup First
Before unplugging anything, take photos of the back of your computer, monitor, and router. Re-creating the setup from a photo takes minutes; guessing takes an afternoon.
Bag and Label Cables and Small Parts
Coil each cable, secure it with a twist tie, and put it in a labeled zip bag — 'monitor,' 'desk lamp,' 'printer.' Screws from a disassembled desk go in their own bag taped inside a tote.
Pack Files Upright in Small Totes
Documents are heavy. Pack hanging files and binders standing upright in a partly filled tote so they don't slump, and keep anything sensitive — passports, tax records — in a tote that rides with you.
Wrap Electronics in Their Own Padding
Monitors and desktops travel best wrapped in a moving blanket or heavy packing paper, standing upright, cushioned on all sides. Original boxes are ideal if you kept them.
Get totes delivered so the whole office packs into stackable bins, not a mismatched box pile.
